Donut Day

Who's up for celebrating the donut?  Of course, I am and my kids are!  June 6th is officially Donut Day, but we celebrated yesterday to give you ideas for your celebration.

We started off the day making donuts.

Then we had storytime.  We read Minne and Moo and the Case of the Missing Jelly Donut and Arnie the Doughnut.  We did have a couple of others waiting in the wings, but the kids' attention span didn't last that long and we never made it back to finish them.

Then it was craft time!  I've been putting off doing some of the crafts with my daycare kids (in this case the 2 girls in the above picture) because they are 2 years old and they outnumber me.  I really enjoy a 1:1 ratio when littles use scissors.  However, I only got out 1 pair of scissors and I held them the entire time.  I figured we were pretty safe then.  The glue sticks however are a different story.  Good thing that stuff washes out!

Offering some cutting assistance

Needs some glue.

Adding the icing.

Had to add sprinkles.
 Displaying the finished product!

Peng-y and Pink Bunny needed a snack!

And there you have it a donut celebration fit for kids!

Here are the other 2 books I checked out from the library but didn't get to read.
